"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after own likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." - Genesis 1:27-28
God made man first in his own image, then in verse 7 of Genesis 2, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Please note one very important thing we see here in chapter 2, the woman was not yet made (vs 18 "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.") until verse 22 ("And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, ad brought her unto the man."). This note will be very important to remember as we continue in our study of God's word.
The head of every man is Christ. (I Corinthians 11:3) Men must first acknowledge that it is only by the grace and mercy of God that they live. "For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?" (I Timothy 3:5) Amen.
