"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." - II Timothy 2:15-
Jesus told us in St. John 5 "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are which testify of me." Notice also that we are to desire the sincere milk of the word so that we will be able to rightly divide that that is true from those who come to us with a different doctrine. Note in the book of Isaiah 8 vs 20 "to the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is not light in them." Note the Apostle Paul wrote to the church Galatia 1:6-9 "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another, but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."
By studying and understanding the word of God preached to us by men of God filled with the Holy Ghost we are able to know what we are to do as men of God, as women professing godliness, as children growing in the truth of God's word, and as Christians knowing what we are to do and how we are to walk, speak, and live according to the word of God. The word that God profess before Christ, when Christ was upon the eart, and afterwards through many great men of God. Amen.
